Final idea

Me and my partner have finally come up with a finalised idea for our sense of space sound project. In the end we decided to go with the progressing layering of stressful city related sounds, followed by single, peaceful rural sounds, such as flowing rivers, tweeting birds and other natural, peaceful sounds.

The way we are going to structure this is to do 30 seconds of fast paced, layered up sounds in each section. E.g. For our character getting up in the morning there is an ear piercing alarm clock sound repeating itself for the full 30 seconds of this section. On top of this other sounds will be layering on top of this and repeating itself for the remainder of this section. so on top of the alarm clock will be the sounds of doors slamming, drawers opening and closing, a kettle boiling, frantic chewing, and fast brushing of teeth. Once all of these have reached a climax in this "scene" it will abruptly stop and allow the first sound of the next "scene" to begin the process again. The three stress based scenes are set in a house, then a general cityscape, and then an office.

The one peaceful scene is set at a place in the countryside, with a river, forest with wildlife, and windy cliff faces. In this scene we plan to do just one noise at a time, so the slower paced river sounds will be followed by footsteps through the tweeting birds in the forest, followed by slow breathing on top of a cliff face.

The message behind this piece is that everyone living in a city should take a moment for themselves, and learn to "chill out".

We have our locations and dates sorted for where and when we want to record. The office and home scenes will all be recorded at my house, with the cityscape being anywhere in the city centre that is busy, these will take place on the 10th of November. All of the rural stuff will be set at Grindleford which is a short train ride away on the 21st and we will begin editing on the 22nd.
